Glacier Energy Welcomes New Business Unit Director to Drive Expansion

6th June 2024

Glacier Energy, a specialist provider of products, services, and engineered solutions for renewable and conventional energy markets has welcomed Paul Johnston to the team as the new Business Unit Director of Glacier Energy’s Inspection Services Division.

In his new role, Paul will lead the Inspection Services team, playing a pivotal role in executing the division’s strategic plans. His leadership will be critical as the division looks to penetrate new markets, introduce additional services, and undertake strategic acquisitions to drive business growth.

Paul brings over 30 years of diverse experience to the role. He has held senior roles across several sectors, including renewables, TIC, oil and gas, aerospace, and defence. His impressive track record includes positions such as European General Manager,  Operations and Technical Director, and most recently, VP of Operations at Leonardo.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said “I am delighted to be joining Glacier Energy at such an exciting point in its growth journey.”

“I have been particularly impressed by the ambition and enthusiasm of the management team and the new Private Equity backers, Averroes Capital. I am looking forward to getting started.”

Group CEO, Scott Martin, commented “We’re really looking forward to Paul joining the business, with our Inspection division having many interesting opportunities in front of it. Following the buy out announced in January, the group is enjoying significant momentum, and investing in its senior management is a key element to our future growth plans.”

In recent years, Glacier Energy’s Inspection Services division has continued to support major wind foundation manufacturers with Inspection services in the UK and Europe, introduced new services for operation, maintenance, and life extension projects for in-service wind farms and established new strong partnerships with innovative technology partners to strengthen its wind services offerings.

With Paul’s appointment, Glacier Energy is well placed to further solidify its market position and achieve significant growth in both wind and the wider energy market.
