Glacier Energy performed visual inspection on our client’s offshore asset as part of a regular inspection schedule. The findings revealed potential integrity issues on the flare structure and handrails, posing a safety risk.
The client requested Glacier Energy return offshore on an urgent basis to further inspect and report findings to return the flare and handrail back to full safety.
Glacier Energy created a method statement on the safest and most efficient solution utilising our in-house IRATA accredited multi-skilled rope access team. Due to the urgency of the scope, this was the most effective solution.
All equipment was mobilised to the dock a week before the scope was scheduled to start, along with additional equipment as a reserve if any unforeseen circumstances arose. A multi disciplined team was mobilised which included an IRATA accredited rope access team of L1, L2 and L3 technicians.
Glacier Energy carried out eddy current, MPI and manual ultrasonic testing inspections to further understand the integrity issues and perform structure replacement. Glacier Energy also assisted in rigging operations to replace all steel work that wasn’t fit for purpose.
